Children of Zion grew out of the ministry relationship God gave us with Waqas and Mary in Faisalabad, Pakistan. Our relationship began in 2022, and as we came to know them and the people they were serving, we also became aware of some of the needs facing children and families in the communities around them.

Among those were children from families working in the brick factories, as well as other poor families who could not afford to provide their children with an education. Waqas and Mary had a desire to establish a school where these children could receive an education while also being taught the Word of God.

They shared that vision with me, and after my wife and I prayed about it, we believed it was something we should support and become a part of.

In January 2024, Children of Zion opened its doors with approximately 20 students. A building was rented for the school, teachers were hired, and curriculum, books, supplies, and the other materials needed for the children were purchased.

The school began in the same building where it continues to operate today. During its first year, enrollment grew from approximately 20 children to around 150 students, as more families were given the opportunity to send their children to school.

Since that time, Children of Zion has continued to operate faithfully, providing the children with a regular education while also teaching them the Bible and the truth of God’s Word.

Today, the school is served by three teachers: Razia, Nida, and Liram. Razia and Nida began teaching at Children of Zion in 2024, and Liram joined the school in June 2025. We are thankful for the work they do each day and for the time and care they invest in the children.

More than two and a half years after its beginning, Children of Zion continues to serve approximately 150 children. Our desire is to give these children an opportunity to receive the education they need for their future while, above all, pointing them to the Lord Jesus Christ and teaching them the truth of His Word.

We are thankful for Waqas and Mary, for the teachers who faithfully serve, and for everyone who has helped make the school possible. Most of all, we are thankful to the Lord for providing what has been needed and allowing Children of Zion to continue serving these children.

What began with about 20 students in January 2024 has grown into a school serving around 150 children today, and we are grateful for the opportunity to continue this work.
